About Us

Mission – Royal Guard Performing Arts is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) organization based in the Minneapolis-St. Paul Metro Area. We seek to foster a positive experience for all who participate, by promoting education, creativity and the freedom of expression through the unification of the marching arts industry, music education and the performing arts.

We strive to provide a positive, inclusive experience for those who wish to perform, learn new skills, develop leadership qualities and develop life-long friendships.

History – Royal Guard Performing Arts was formed in the spring of 2019; however, our roots started over 30 years earlier. The Royal Guard Drum & Bugle Corps was founded in 1987 in St. Paul, Minnesota. The drum corps also sponsored a winter color guard. The drum corps eventually stopped performing, but the winter guard continued to compete locally, regionally and nationally until 1999.

After 20 years of inactivity, a group of alumni and interested volunteers came together and formed Royal Guard Performing Arts. This dedicated group of people worked together to create our first performing ensemble, Royal Guard Winter Guard. The group recruited a staff and members and performed in competition in February 2020 with 18 members between the ages of 14-21.

The winter guard exceeded expectations in their inaugural season. They competed in the North Star Circuit, based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. The guard also competed in the Winter Guard International Regional in Omaha, Nebraska. The group was preparing for the WGI World Championships in April of 2020; however, the season was cut short, due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. We were excited to return to full season of in-person competitions.

The Royal Guard Performing Arts is led by a volunteer Board of Directors. Please contact us if you are interested in getting involved as a potential board member or other volunteer by emailing us at: rgpa.mn@gmail.com
